wine1Other activities available:

Campiglia is a lovely village to explore and the surrounding countryside is beautiful.  There are easily accessible walks into the hills and woods.  One can visit the San Silvestro mining museum at the mining archaeological site  in the hills behind the village. The beach with the stunning Bay of Baratti is just 15 minutes away and there is also the protected beach and forest at Rimigliano.  There will be opportunity to enjoy the Calidario thermal pool (euro: 18 ) located  near Campiglia village.

wine2We have arranged a wine tasting with Andrea in the village (euro 10)  A   shopping visit to Populonia and/or the Friday market in Venturina can be arranged by sharing taxi  (about 15 minutes away cost about euro 10 ).  The internationally famous artist, Laura Pesce , (www.laurapesce.it) will give us a personal tour of her shop and gallery in Populonia.  Lunch can be had in Populonia at Luca’s bar (reasonable cost) or on the beach  under the pine trees at the fabulus caravan sandwich bar  or in the little cafe by the small port.  Thee are 2 excellent fish restaurants by the port for a special meal. (again shared taxi to beach or Populonia- sometimes bus is available but the May timetable doesn’t appear until well into May so we can not be specific!)

There will be a Friends Meeting for Worship (Quaker) in Pat’s garden on Wednesday and Saturday morning. 8am. (all welcome)  In Catholic Ital,y the month of May is Mary’s month and there is a small chapel  for devotions to Mary- every evening (only in May) at 9:30 pm.  This is a lovely service and all are welcome.   Early morning wake-up exercises and meditation also can take place  in Pat’s garden or in the yoga studio.

There will be opportunity to sit in the local coffee bars in the main piazza, sipping a cappuccino or a glass of wine- this is the “living room” of the village-  and enjoy the panorama of the local people and visitors scurrying or leisurely pursuing their daily activities.
