Screen Printing with Textiles
Course date: Wednesday May 16- Sunday May 20 2012
This is a five day course which will be based on taking care of the self on many levels. The main focus of the course is screen printing on textiles, but most participants find that through the development of designs and working with colour, a journey begins which will culminate in a personal piece of work.
We will begin with learning about safely using dyes and move onto learning about successfully using the screen. Once the basics skills have been achieved we will explore a range of techniques for developing creative designs with the screen. Individuals will be free to create personal and symbolic designs which reflect their interests and experiences. Using materials, such as leaves and cut outs and other found objects, a range of beautiful designs can easily be created. Colour will be a major aspect for our exploration. It is intended that everyone leaves the course with some textiles which could be transformed into cushion covers, table cloths or work on T shirts or other items of clothing.
A pattern for the day will be established whereby we will be working with textiles in the mornings, looking for found items to use with the screen on some afternoons. Other afternoons will be set aside for bathing and relaxing. We hope to find a space in the day for some Qi gong meditation.
